I'll be posting blogs about our little day trips and our visit to London over the next week or so. Unfortunately I don't have many photos so I'm going to have to get some from my mom. I brought my camera with me everywhere thinking I'd use it, but I completely forgot about it. Probably because I'd been to nearly all of the places we went to. I'd finally remember it, take a couple of random pictures and forget about it again for a couple of days. So I think I have 34 pictures total and 14 of them are experiments with the macro setting on my camera on flowers around Dunster Castle, 7 of them are self-portraits of Steve and I, 5 of them are the same shot of the inside of Mart St. Redcliffe church when I was trying to get the exposure right and 3 of them are of Ripley. That leaves 5 of actual "stuff."
I'll give a quick synopsis of our first few days here though and leave you with a couple of the photos which are on my camera from those days...
So the first day (Wednesday) I got off work early and my parents were already at my house with lots and lots of goodies from back home which they'd brought for us. For dinner we walked down to the local chip shop and showed them what real fish and chips are like. Of course they loved them. If you don't live over here, you'd better come visit and see what I'm talking about, because this stuff is excellent.
Thursday Steve and I showed them around beautiful Weston super Mare (HA!) and we introduced my parents to Thorntons. They also got to meet Jen and Adam, two of our very good friends, (Adam in an incredibly talented artist who has produced every piece of art in our house except one and painted the photo of me on my profile) who were in town and we had coffee at a very cute new place which I didn't even know about.
Friday, we went to Bristol Airport (exciting right??). The only reason we went there was to go to the car rental place and get my name on the car so that I could drive because let me tell you, being in the car when my dad was driving was TERRIFYING! My dad is an excellent driver... in the US. But here? Well, there's a lot to think about when you're not used to it.
So Saturday we had a BBQ. Steve's immediate family was there. Jen and Adam were there and a few other good friends came. Our niece is finally getting along with Ripley and when I say "getting along" I mean "attached at the hip." Maya was petrified of Ripley for the first 6 months we owned her. Now they're inseparable. It's really very sweet to watch them, and Rips is soooo patient with Maya. She's very very good with her considering she's a 10 month old puppy.
More to come later. Sorry this one was so long. From now on I'll do one day at a time instead of a bunch a once so they'll be shorter.
